Warriors vs Heat: Stephen Curry Out with Ankle Soreness

Golden State will be without Stephen Curry in Miami tonight as he rests a sore ankle, marking another hit to a Warriors squad already dealing with injuries and illness.

MIAMI — The Golden State Warriors won’t have Stephen Curry on the floor Wednesday night. The star guard has been ruled out against the Miami Heat because of lingering soreness in his right ankle.

Curry injured the ankle during his explosive 49-point outing in San Antonio last Friday and appeared to aggravate it again in Tuesday’s loss to Orlando. After the game, he said he wanted to see how it felt after some rest and travel. Following evaluation, the Warriors decided to keep him out. The team is optimistic he will be back on Friday when they return home to face the Portland Trail Blazers.

The matchup will also miss key names on both sides. Miami’s Jimmy Butler remains out with lower back soreness, while Draymond Green won’t play due to illness. Butler previously missed a game in Sacramento for the same back issue and this would have been just his second appearance back in Miami since February’s trade that sent him to Golden State.

Buddy Hield, who had been listed as questionable with an illness, has been cleared to play. Al Horford will rest for load management on the second night of a back-to-back, and Jonathan Kuminga is still sidelined with knee tendinitis.

This game ends an exhausting stretch for the Warriors. By the close of tonight, they will have played a league-leading 17 games in the first 29 days of the season across 12 different cities, including five back-to-back sets. From here, Golden State finally returns home for five straight games at Chase Center.
